Sentinel Node Biopsy

Sentinel node biopsy surgery is a procedure that is used to determine if cancer has spread beyond the primary tumor. It involves removing the sentinel lymph node, which is the first lymph node that cancer is likely to spread to from the primary tumor.

The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and involves injecting a radioactive or blue dye near the primary tumor. The dye will travel to the sentinel lymph node, which can then be identified and removed. The sentinel node is then examined for the presence of cancer cells.
